The International Festival of Learning East – Join the Movement

We are extremely excited to be attending the International Festival of Learning (IFL) on Monday, 16th April, hosted by West Suffolk College.

This is the first year of the festival, following its pilot in 2016, which aims to bring together teachers, schools and educational professionals for an exciting day of speakers, workshops and discussions.

The festival acts as a chance for those within the educational sphere to develop their careers and share information and skills regarding key areas in education, taking inspiration from global practice.

Although a new event, IFL has already gained the attention of significant figures within the educational world. TES, ASCL and the British Council are named amongst some if its many partners, and there are over 1000 attendees expected on the day.

The festival is based around several ‘themes’, with this years’ principal theme being ‘Future Proof Workforce’. What is it that we can do now to prepare younger generations to be part of a workforce that thrives with academic excellence, whilst also bridging the skills gap?

Other themes featured on the day include ‘Empowering Communities’, ‘Creating the Environment’ and ‘Leadership’ which will all explore a variety of topics, ranging from how teachers can remain inspired in times of change, to talks about issues surrounding diversity, mental health and wellbeing.

Each of these sessions will be led by an experienced educational professional. The impressive list of speakers includes names such as Children’s Minister Nadhim Zahawi, Ofsted Chief Inspector Amanda Spielman and ASCL General Secretary, Geoff Barton, plus over 100 more.

As well as themes, there are also a number of ‘zones’ at the festival.

We are pleased to be sponsoring the ‘Recruitment Zone’.

The Opus Teach service was created with the feedback from teachers and schools at the forefront and so we are thrilled to be part of an event that celebrates the profession and brings everyone together in a truly collaborative approach.

Our Opus Teach account manager, Suzanne, says, “the opportunity to not only attend but sponsor a zone at this fantastic event is so exciting for all of us at Opus Teach. We have been working towards creating a transparent, quality and effective supply service for Suffolk schools and invested time and resources to ensure it is achievable. Here at the festival we can gain feedback on our proposition from educational professionals and share ideas with schools and teachers alike about how best to serve Suffolk children in schools. The Festival is a fantastic platform for building and growing important networks of colleagues who can continue to support us, and us them, in future years to come.”

IFL is not just a festival, it is a growing movement and is fantastic opportunity for teachers, schools and leaders alike to join together. We can’t wait to attend!
